7 lessons from David J. Schwartz’s  “The Magic of Thinking Big”

David J. Schwartz’s self-help book Seven Essential Lessons from “The Magic of Thinking Big” offers doable tactics and mental adjustments to support people in achieving success and personal fulfilment. These are the book’s seven most important lessons:

1. Develop a positive outlook.

Your thoughts have a big impact on the things you do and how things turn out. Embrace optimism and have faith in your capacity to accomplish great things. Positive affirmations should be used to counter negative thinking, and opportunities should be prioritised above challenges.

Keep your passport handy at all times – don’t put it in a safe or locker

Don’t leave your passport in a safe.

I don’t want to sound like your mother, but you should keep it with you at all times because if it’s stolen then that could cause problems when going through security or leaving the country.

Always keep your passport in a place you can easily access it in case you need to make an emergency exit.

2. Set lofty objectives.

Aim high and make big promises to yourself. Don’t let imagined constraints or the situation you’re in now limit your dreams. Establish measurable objectives that push and motivate you to strive for excellence.

3. Act Now and Accept the Risk

Action is necessary for advancement. Don’t allow uncertainty or fear of failing to stop you. To achieve your goals, take measured chances and venture outside of your comfort zone. Keep in mind that failure frequently serves as a springboard for success.

4. Create enduring connections

Be in the company of upbeat, encouraging people who will raise you up and encourage you. Make meaningful relationships and build a network with people who can help you grow. Develop connections that are founded on mutual respect, trust, and benefit.

5. Gain self-assurance and believe in yourself

Have faith in your ability and make judgements with confidence. Praise your accomplishments and strengths to strengthen your self-belief. Avert critical self-talk and concentrate on your potential and accomplishments.

I always bring my credit card from home, as well as one from the place I’m going or alternatively an international card such as Revolut. In case anything happens, I always have a way to get money and communicate with people at home.
